Latest Update on the TIRYC  position regarding sailing activity
as amended August 13 2020 based on

MYA Guidance for the Resumption of Competitive Radio and Free Sailing

The club sailing/racing programme is now abandoned for this racing year (November 2019 to October 2020)
 
There is a temporary morning sailing scheme, for exercise and well being only.
 
   Wednesday mornings 10 till 12 for DF65 (but also RG65 and Wee Nips)
 
   Friday mornings 10 till 12 to sail DF95’s
 
   Sunday mornings 10 till 12 for IOM’s
 
   Saturday mornings for 6M and A Boats (presently alternate weeks only)
 
Following new MYA guidance the maximum number of skippers allowed to race together has now increased to 13
 
This number is to ensure that social distancing of 2 metres is complied with

If more than 13 skippers attend then boats will be taken off of the water on a rotation basis
 
The control areas will therefore revert to the car park area and the spit as before depending on wind direction
 
Social distancing must be adhered to at all times (including boat assembly and set up). Choose a spot and do not move around.
 
Please be aware that as part of the virus control there are no toilet facilities at the pavilion, these are closed and water has been closed off. Be aware before leaving home!

Use of inflatable rescue boat
The inflatable will only be launched if a boat is on an island and cannot be retrieved by any other means
  • If the inflatable is used a suitably qualified Committee member must be present to ensure the boat is properly prepared for launching. The ‘front line’ Committee Members are Mike Ewart, Geoff Raygada and Rob Tottey who are first in line to supervise the launching of the boat. If they are not in attendance then another Committee member must supervise the preparation of the boat.
 
  • We will not accept any urgent shortcut for the boat preparation from a member whose boat is disabled. The designated Committee member has complete authority over the launch procedure
 
  • It is recognised that two members are needed to launch the boat. Only two members should be used to minimise contact. Individual hand sanitiser must be used once the boat is packed away and before leaving the lake
 
  • Unless the disabled boat is on an island it must be left to drift to a bank regardless of how long that might take
Please ensure that the following virus specific rules agreed with the Parks Trust are followed:-

  • If any member shows any sign of illness (particularly Covid 19 symptoms) they MUST not attend the sailing session and indeed should follow Government procedure
  • Sailing is limited to six members only for each session
  • A 2 meter distance between members and any members of the public MUST  be adhered to at all times
  • Chairs used to help maintain the social distance and to stop movement are recommended
  • Use of personal hand sanitizer both before and after sailing is mandatory
  • Each member must only touch their own boat/equipment 
  • The two meter distance must be maintained in the car park and when launching and retrieving boats
  • in the case of a boat becoming disabled or out of control an electric remote control rescue launch can be used to help along with a trailing line
  • A Committee member will be designated to manage each sailing session with authority to confirm the rules

Keeping to the Government regulations will ensure that the third party insurance via the MYA will be valid. Breaking these regulations would have the effect, in the event of an insurance claim being made by a third party, of invalidating the indemnity provided by the insurance

It is clear the aforementioned advice should not be breached by TIRYC Club or members

Please fully respect these rules in support of sailing

Members should be aware of the new "Health, Safety and Environment Plan" and the need for there to be a Responsible Person for every Two Islands event
Also be aware of the "Emergency Action Plan"
The emergency contact list is now kept inside the "Safety Bag" in the store cupboard in the lock up. The Responsible Person should have this with him at the event.
