Dragon Force 65
A restricted design class yacht which fits into the rules of the much wider International RG65 Development class, the RG65 has much to recommend it to those who wish to persue their interest in the hobby in the direction of developing model yachts in terms of hull and sail design.
The restricted class of the Dragon Force 65 whilst taking away these choices does allow for a relatively low cost entry into model yachting for those who do not have the skill set or the inclination to build their own boat from plans.
The "almost" RTR model will cost around £130-£150 and whilst it does come with one sail set, most skippers will want to purchase sets of ready made sails which are available from a variety of licensed manufacturers at around £60.00 for each of the three rigs.
If you want to turn your yacht into a race winning entry then there is a detailed description to the extensive adaptations you might wish to make here, and of course the class has it's own website as well.
At Two Islands in 2014 we trialed the Dragon Force 65 as a one design class to replace the Laser which had seen falling numbers of participants over the previous years.
Since then the DF65 has become a very popular class at Two Islands attracting large numbers each and every Wednesday morning with the first event each month forming a race series for the "Classic" trophy.
